Follow-on to the review below:

If you are a catholic blogger who needs a steady supply of free, top-notch spiritual reading, I see that the The Catholic Company is still accepting new reviewers.  Highly recommended program, well-run and I have never, ever, had any difficulty picking a new book from the list of available titles.  There are usually a dozen or more options across a wide variety of mostly non-fiction genres.  You pick one out, they ship it to you, you post your review, you pick a new one out.  Very well-run.

–> My next pick (so look for a review one of these days) is Jimmy Aiken’s The Salvation Controversy, which promises to set me straight on my TULIP problems.   Well-timed.

Also look for a review here of the DVD Father of Mercy, my first blog-review for Tiber River.  Finished watching it (once in English voice-over, then with much relief again in the original Italian), just need to type up my thoughts.  (Hint: I don’t pick lousy product.)

So that should be posted soon, assuming no more exciting sub-plots here at home.  Been one of those weeks, hehe.  And also maybe a review of John Hathaway’s Prayer CD “Hide Me In Your Wounds: Daily Prayer with the Saints”, soon as I get through the whole thing.

In real life: We’re doing a math-n-craziness theme at school this summer.  New school year starts August 15th, and I’m planning to pretty much hit it running from the get-go.  Oh and we joined the YMCA.  Man I love that place.

  1. Yes, well, we had a very light spring. Academically-speaking.

The wonderful thing about homeschooling is you can schedule it around your life. The horrible thing about homeschooling is that it ends up scheduled around your life.

Fortunately my kids are pretty self-motivated as far as independent learning goes; that pretty much saved us this spring. Except for math. Hence our math-themed life for the next year or two . . . : -).

    1. John H., Yes. Click around on the Tiber River site and you will find it. If you have trouble, I’ll see if I can run down the link. I’m afraid I’m not as skilled at navigating Tiber River’s site as I would like. (Long running theme here, my inability to perform simple internet tasks.) I know Julie at Happy Catholic (see sidebar) is reviewing books for Tiber River, so she might be able to point you in the right direction if you don’t figure it out.

    2. Hey, and John H., both companies (Aquinas & More, and Catholic Company) offer affiliate programs, where you get a percentage of sales that are clicked through from your blog. [Better percentage, of course, for those who exclusively promote just one store.] I’ve opted not to go that route for an assortment of reasons, but you might take a look and see if doing one or both would help with the income crunch. I don’t know what else you have going on your site already that might conflict or not. No one is getting crazy rich this way, but since you’re the master of the “a little here, a little there” multiple-income-stream program, thought I’d give you the head’s up.

      (Ha: I’m still holding out for my favorite local catholic bookstore to offer a program. Must . . . keep . . . bookstore . . . open . . .)

      1. I used to do Catholic Company’s affiliate program, but the links stopped working a long time ago. Apparently, they changed it since I originally signed up years ago.

  2. John H.: You should consider contacting Chris Cash at Catholic Company and asking for some help with that. (I can give you the e-mail offline if you don’t have it; he also on my friend list on FB I’m pretty sure.)

My experience (at both companies) is that the program heads are eager to make the blog review/affiliate programs work, and will walk you through what you need in order to get it running properly.
