Well said! I’ve had to try (poorly) to explain this to our kids lately, when their friends’ Protestant religions seem so much more ‘fun’ and ‘easy’.
So much of our world is about escaping the cross. The scene in The Passion said it best, when Gismas screams at Jesus and calls him a fool for *embracing* his cross., much the same way the world ridicules us for embracing the tough aspects of our road to Christ.
Yes. This. Though the serious protestant friends are serious about taking up their cross, don’t let the shiny-happy fool you. (And for that matter, the serious agnostic / atheist friends. The all-about-me crowd gets old fast.)
